The nonprofit, independent ISACA is a global leader in IT governance, security, control and assurance. Founded in 1969 as the EDP Auditors Association, ISACA is the single leading international source for information technology controls. ISACA is dedicated to serving the needs of IT governance professionals.

Membership

ISACA-previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association-has a global membership of more than 65,000 professionals in more than 140 countries in Asia, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, North America and Oceania. Its members include IT auditors, internal and external auditors, CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, educators, information security and control professionals, students, and IT consultants.

Activities

  • Offers the Certified Information Systems Auditor™ (CISA®) designation, a globally respected designation for experienced IS audit, control and security professionals. The CISA exam is given twice annually in 11 languages at more than 200 test sites around the world. More than 50,000 professionals have earned the CISA designation since its inception in 1978.
  • Offers the Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM®) designation, a groundbreaking designation designed for leaders who manage an organization's information security. More than 6,500 professionals have earned the CISM designation since it was established in 2002.
  • Sponsors technical and management conferences on five continents to ensure consistent global professional education.
  • Publishes the Information Systems Control Journal®, a bimonthly magazine containing peer-reviewed technical and managerial content on IS audit, control, security and governance topics.
  • Provides professional standards, guidelines and procedures for the IS audit and control professions.
  • Works with its research affiliate, the IT Governance Institute® (www.itgi.org), to advance the global awareness and adoption of the increasing importance of IT governance as a contributor to enterprise success. ITGI's leading publications are Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT®), a breakthrough IT governance framework that uses nontechnical language to help organizations focus their information technology in support of overall business objectives, and Val IT, a framework for assisting enterprises in maximizing value from IT-enabled investments. Both are available as a complimentary download at www.isaca.org and www.itgi.org.
